The President of Puertos del Estado welcomes Antolín Goya
De la Encina discusses the "historical achievements" of the Stevedoring Decree with the Coordinator
- They also addressed important issues for the system such as the upcoming Collective Agreement and Strategic Framework
22-04-2019 (Ministry of Public Works and Transport). The President of Puertos del Estado, Salvador de la Encina, welcomed the General Coordinator of The State Coordination of Sea Workers union, Antolín Goya, this morning with whom he discussed the "historical achievements" of Royal Decree Law 9/2019 of March 29, "both for stevedores and the companies operating in our ports".
The meeting was also attended by the Technical Secretary of Puertos del Estado, Álvaro Sánchez, as well as the Legal Adviser of The State Coordination of Sea Workers union, Víctor Díaz.
The representatives of Puertos del Estado and of the main union in the stevedoring sector both highlighted the benefits already being reaped by the Decree on economic activity "in the ports and throughout the whole logistical chain because we should all be very much aware of the repercussion that the stevedoring link has on that chain as well as on thousands of private Spanish households", Salvador de la Encina pointed out.
"Legal certainty and social peace are historical achievements for the port system and for the Spanish economy overall," added the President of Puertos del Estado.
The Royal Decree Law modifies Law 14/1994 of June 1, which regulates temporary employment agencies to adapt them to the port stowage activity and concludes the legal adaptation of the workers' regime for the provision of port cargo handling services.
Its approval, as explained by Salvador de la Encina, reflects the talks that have been ongoing for months by the parties involved in the negotiation to obtain the European Union's approval to give legal certainty to the sector and guarantee labor subrogation through Port Employment Centers.
The President of Puertos del Estado also spoke to the General Coordinator of The State Coordination of Sea Workers union about the Decree that implements complementary measures for aspects related to training and early retirement.
The meeting also addressed the actions led by Puertos del Estado on the upcoming Collective Agreement and the preparation of the Strategic Framework, which are essential for the present and future development of the Spanish port system.
