Remote Supervision Systems
The remote supervision systems, with or without tele-control, enhance the services offered to the
seamen. The implementation of these systems improves the management and optimisation of the
available resources and reduces the operational costs. For each aid to navigation, there is a
remote station that collects information about its status and sends these data to a control centre,
which centralizes these data and monitors the whole system.
A remote supervision system allows to know the operation of aids to navigation, its capacity to carry out the function for which it was designed or whether this device is working according to the established requirements.
The Spanish remote supervision system includes a control centre per each port authority. This centre has a tele-command and a general supervision centre in Puertos del Estado, which allows to know the status of all the signals monitored by each port authority.
