The President of Puertos del Esado shows interest in the development of the southern dock of the port of Castellon

28-02-2022. The president of Puertos del Estado, M Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena, visited the port of Castellon today to learn about its strategic projects. The visit began with a working meeting with the Steering Committee, the Works Council and representatives of the Port Community, where the president of PortCastelló, M Rafa Simo, presented the state of play of the productive infrastructures promoted to gain competitiveness and efficiency in land and rail connectivity.
The launch and improvement of the southern dock was also addressed, which, thanks to the Octopus project, will help attract new investments to increase Catellon's productive fabric. This project will reclaim 420,000 m2 from the sea which, in addition to the ground already available, will amount to 700,000 m2 for the development of industrial projects that will help consolidate the Port of Castellon as an industrial and chemical enclave, focused on new technologies and sustainable fuels.
During the meeting, M Rafa Simo highlighted the PortCastelló 2030 challenge, which aims at reaching 30M tons in goods traffic and 30M foreign investment per year, developing 30 social projects a year and reducing energy consumption by 30% and emissions by 30%, by 2030.
The President of Puertos del Estado stressed the great interest and involvement shown by the Port Community in the development of all projects: 'private contribution is essential to face our challenges'.
Following this meeting, the president of Puertos del Estado toured the two docks of PortCastelló and became acquainted with the port's environmental protection actions, such as particle meters, windscreens and tyre launderers for trucks carrying goods inside the facilities.
Finally, M Álvaro Rodríguez signed the Port Authority's Book of Honour and took part in the Board of Directors.
