The assessment of conformity is used as an element for putting increases in port rates, linked to an increase in the quality of the service provided, into objective terms. The activity of goods ports terminals and marine stations is marked by the operations of the traffic they serve so, when establishing service quality characteristics, it is worth taking these differences in operations into account.
In accordance with Royal Legislative Decree 2/2011, the Puertos del Estado Governing Board approved Generic Reference Guides for Services in October 2012, which may be adapted by the Port Authorities to form Specific Reference Guides. A port quality management framework into which the specific requirements of the automobile sector represented by ANFAC are inserted. The reference framework is specifically a quality system for the traffic of goods vehicles and an associated certification scheme. The Generic Reference Guide for Services can be adapted by the Port Authorities into Specific Reference Guides.
