International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities
The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) was established in 1957 as an international organization with exclusively technical aims to regulate aids to navigation. As of August 22nd 2024, it has become an Intergovernmental Organization.
Spain has been a member of the Council since 1994 and held the Presidency of this International Association during the 2014-2018 period.
For the development of technical work, there are four committees with representatives from Puertos del Estado and the Port Authorities:
- e-Navigation Committee (e-NAV)
- Maritime Traffic Services Committee (VTS)
- Engineering Committee (ENG)
- Aids to Navigation Management and Requirements Committee (AMR)
All members of the Association are welcome to participate in these committees and collaborate on studies and drafting reports or recommendations on the various topics within each committee's work program. Therefore, participation is open to all technical experts in the Port Community.
