Organizational structure
The public body Puertos del Estado and, through Puertos del Estado, the Port Authorities, are attached to the Ministerio de Transporte y Movilidad Sostenible, through the Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, which is responsible for strategic direction, evaluation, and control of the results of their activities.
The governing and administrative bodies of Puertos del Estado are the Governing Council and the President.
The President oversees three directorates and a general secretariat:
- The Corporate Directorate, which carries out activities aimed at setting Puertos del Estado's objectives in the international sphere, coordinating the organization's relations with the Ministry and other public institutions, as well as with the media and society in general.
- The Planning and Development Directorate, responsible for port infrastructure planning, port system connectivity and sustainability, as well as economic and financial planning and compliance with the objectives of the national port system.
- The Operations Directorate, responsible for security and protection of the Port Authorities, management of the public domain and port services, as well as planning and monitoring the operation of maritime signaling services.
- The General Secretariat, which serves as the main legal support tool for the organization and oversees human resources management.
Regarding the human team at Puertos del Estado, the organization has more than 150 professionals, among the most highly skilled in the sector.
The Governing Council of Puertos del Estado consists of the President of Puertos del Estado and a minimum of twelve and a maximum of fifteen members, appointed by the Ministerio de Transporte y Movilidad Sostenible.
