José Antonio Lago, New Director of Operations at Puertos del Estado

A highly knowledgeable figure in port operations, José Antonio Lago has been appointed as the new Director of Operations at Puertos del Estado, filling the position left vacant by Mar Chao from Galicia after her move to the private sector.

José Antonio Lago, originally from El Bierzo in León, holds a degree in Economics and Business from the University of Oviedo (1983) and a Master's in Commercial Management and Marketing from the Instituto de Empresa (IE) in Madrid.

In 2006, he served as the General Director of the Solid Bulk Terminal at the port of Gijón, EBHISA, for five years.

Later, in 2012, under the presidency of Rosa Aza, he was appointed as the General Director of the Port Authority of Gijón, a position he held until 2015.

For over 8 years, he was an Associate Professor of Applied Economics and International Trade at the University of Oviedo.

Until the present moment, he has been a member of the Boards of Directors of various affiliated companies and the operational head of the intermodal logistics strategy at the port of Gijón.
