
The practices related to the Blue Economy attract the interest of the President of Puertos del Estado during his visit to the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

February 21, 2022. The President of Puertos del Estado, Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena, made an institutional visit today to the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife accompanied by its president, Carlos González, in a meeting framed in the round of contacts that he has been making with the managers of the general interest ports of the State Port System since his recent appointment last November 2021.
The day began with his signing in the guestbook of the Port Authority and later he held a meeting with the management team of Ports of Tenerife, meetings in which the Deputy Director of Human Resources of Puertos del Estado, Jesús Requena Ojeda, was also present.
Among the topics discussed at the meeting is the progress of the works at the port of Granadilla, which will contribute to positioning this port as an energy hub and for activities related to the Blue Economy.
Various aspects related to the operation and commercial management of a port system consisting of six island ports were also analyzed, where knowledge management and renewable energies are being added to the priority aspects of management. Thus, there was an agreement on the need to find the best way to incorporate practices linked to the Blue Economy and how to develop initiatives of sustainable ports, in accordance with the new Strategic Framework that will be approved soon.
Commercially modeling the management of demand for port services and the status of the DEUPs of the ports of La Palma and Granadilla were other aspects presented by Ports of Tenerife to the head of Puertos del Estado.
Later, Rodríguez Dapena visited the Zona Franca of Tenerife also accompanied by its vice president Margarita Pena and the Government Delegate, Javier Plata. The progress of the works to organize the Valleseco coastline was also the subject of this visit to the facilities, which concluded at the Cruise Terminal of Tenerife, where Rodríguez Dapena and González met with a large delegation from the Tenerife port community.
The President of Puertos del Estado also had the opportunity to visit the port of Granadilla, learning about the work that is being carried out since port infrastructures play a relevant role in the development of offshore wind energy in the Canary Islands.
