The president of Puertos del Estado visits the port of Pasaia and meets with the port community

January 26, 2022. Representatives from Puertos del Estado have visited the facilities of the port of Pasaia and held working meetings with the management team of the Port Authority and the companies operating in the port.

During the visit, representatives from Puertos del Estado were able to tour the recent infrastructures implemented in the port, such as the Herrera warehouses and the expansion of warehouse 4, as well as those currently under construction, such as the paving of the Lezo dock or the completion works of the Plaza de la Lonja.

Port operators conveyed their future plans to the president of Puertos del Estado, Mr. Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena, reaffirming their commitment to Pasaia. The port experienced significant growth in 2021 compared to pre-pandemic data from 2019, providing a solid foundation for attracting private investments to enhance the competitiveness of the Guipuzcoan dock.

In line with the improvement of facilities, Mr. Joakin Telleria, president of the Port Authority, presented updated information to the president of Puertos del Estado regarding the progress of the investment plan aimed at improving the navigability of the port, endowed with 23 million euros. This project is seeking funding through European funds.

The president of Puertos del Estado highlighted the efficiency and agility of Pasaia, confirming that the proposed investments will further enhance this intrinsic characteristic of Pasaia.

Subsequently, representatives from Puertos del Estado and the Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability, and the Environment, Mrs. Arantxa Tapia, took the opportunity to have a working lunch with the management team of the Port Authority.

Later, a visit to Hondalea took place, the artistic intervention at the Lighthouse of Santa Clara Island carried out by Cristina Iglesias, promoted by the City Council of Donostia. This cultural landmark was developed while maintaining the full functionality of the maritime signal represented by the Lighthouse.
