23-09-2025 (Puertos del Estado). Puertos del Estado and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) have presented the “Puertos del Estado–UPM Chair on Port Logistics,” aimed at fostering joint activities and projects to contribute to scientific and technological development in key areas of port logistics, such as management, operations, and planning.

To this end, the initiative foresees research activities, training programs, conferences, workshops, and technical seminars carried out by the Department of Transport, Territory, and Urban Planning Engineering of the School of Civil Engineering at UPM, in collaboration with Puertos del Estado and UPM’s School of Naval Engineering.

Gustavo Santana, President of Puertos del Estado, stressed that “this Chair reflects Puertos del Estado’s commitment to education, as set out in the Strategic Framework of the state-owned port system, but also to the public interest, since research in engineering ultimately benefits society as a whole.”

For the Rector of the Polytechnic University, Óscar García Suárez, the Chair will be “a key space to advance knowledge and management capacity in a sector that is vital for our country.” He added: “Through this new Chair, we will complement the training of our Civil Engineering students so that, in the future, they are fully prepared to meet the challenges demanded by the port and maritime sector.”
