Spain's Multi-Regional Operational Programme (POPE)

Puertos del Estado plans to perform the functions of an Intermediate Management and Control Body between the Managing Authority (DG Fondos Europeos del Ministerio de Hacienda) and the Port Authorities as Beneficiaries, taking responsibility for part of the functions assigned to the former in matters of management, monitoring, evaluation, control, and communication of interventions within its competence. The amount of aid allocated to the state-owned port system under the Multi-regional Operational Program of Spain (FEDER POPE) amounts to 416 million euros. The objectives in which the system participates include a Greener Europe (political objective 2), with actions related to energy efficiency, the generation of renewable energy, and the supply of electricity to ships, and a More Connected Europe (political objective 3), focusing on railway accessibility and support for island regions.
